Tour Details

We’re often asked how much time you really need to experience Scotland properly. When the route is thoughtfully designed and the pace is unhurried, ten days is the sweet spot.

Our 10-Day Heart of Scotland Tour is crafted to show you Scotland’s most iconic landscapes, historic cities, and legendary locations without feeling rushed. You’ll travel from the historic streets of Edinburgh into the Highlands, past lochs and glens, across to the Isle of Skye, and onward through Inverness, the Cairngorms, and Pitlochry before finishing in vibrant Glasgow.

This small group coach tour blends dramatic scenery, meaningful history, and genuine local experiences. With an expert driver-guide leading the way, you’ll enjoy a relaxed rhythm with time to explore, absorb the views, and actually enjoy being there rather than ticking boxes.

Travel in comfort aboard a luxury Mercedes Sprinter, stay in carefully chosen hotels, and experience Scotland in a way that feels personal, balanced, and memorable.

Itinerary

Day 1 & 2: Edinburgh

Highlights

  • Edinburgh Castle
  • Private guided walking tour
  • The Royal Mile & hidden closes
  • Old Town & Georgian New Town
  • National Museum of Scotland
  • Local cafés, pubs, and historic streets

Edinburgh is one of Europe’s most atmospheric capitals and the perfect place to begin your journey. Built around an ancient volcanic rock, the city is layered with history, striking architecture, and character at every turn.

Explore the Royal Mile, wander tucked-away closes, and enjoy sweeping views from Edinburgh Castle. A private guided walking tour brings the city’s stories to life, from kings and queens to writers, rebels, and everyday locals. The rest of your time is free to enjoy museums, whisky tastings, shopping, or simply settling into a cosy café to watch the city go by.

Day 3: Loch Lomond, Glencoe & Fort William

Highlights

  • Loch Lomond shoreline views
  • Glencoe Valley
  • Highland mountain scenery
  • Fort William

Leaving Edinburgh behind, the scenery shifts quickly as you head north toward the Highlands. Pause along the peaceful shores of Loch Lomond before continuing into Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most dramatic and emotionally powerful landscapes.

Towering mountains, deep valleys, and powerful clan history make Glencoe unforgettable. The day continues to Fort William, set beneath Ben Nevis and often called the Outdoor Capital of the UK.

Day 4 & 5: Isle of Skye & Eilean Donan Castle

Highlights

  • Isle of Skye
  • Eilean Donan Castle
  • Coastal scenery and island landscapes
  • Portree area

Cross the Skye Bridge and arrive on the legendary Isle of Skye, known for its rugged coastline, shifting light, and rich folklore. With two nights on the island, there’s time to truly experience Skye rather than rushing through it.

Visit the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, dramatically set where three sea lochs meet and famous for its cinematic setting. Across these two days, explore Skye’s landscapes, villages, and quiet corners where history, myth, and nature come together.

Day 6 & 7: Loch Ness & Inverness

Highlights

  • Loch Ness cruise
  • Inverness
  • Culloden Battlefield
  • River Ness walks

Travel east from Skye toward Loch Ness and enjoy a relaxing cruise on Scotland’s most famous loch. Take in the surrounding scenery and keep one hopeful eye on the water.

Continue to Inverness, often called the Capital of the Highlands. Visit Culloden Battlefield, site of the final Jacobite uprising, and gain insight into events that shaped Highland history. Free time allows for riverside walks, local shops, or simply relaxing at your hotel.

Day 8: Cairngorms National Park & Pitlochry

Highlights

  • Cairngorms National Park
  • Scenic Highland drives
  • Pitlochry village

Journey through the Cairngorms National Park, the largest national park in the UK, known for wide-open landscapes, forests, rivers, and mountain views.

Arrive in Pitlochry, a charming Victorian town with a relaxed Highland feel, riverside walks, and welcoming local character. This is a perfect place to slow the pace and soak in the surroundings.

Day 9: Pitlochry to Glasgow

Highlights

  • Highland to Lowland scenery
  • Glasgow city
  • Culture, architecture, and museums

As you travel south, the landscapes soften and the Highlands give way to Lowland scenery. Arrive in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city and one of its most vibrant cultural centres.

Known for its music scene, bold architecture, and famously friendly locals, Glasgow offers an energetic contrast to the quieter Highland days and a lively final evening.

Day 10: Departure Day

After breakfast, transfer to Glasgow Airport or continue onward travels. Say farewell to Scotland with lasting memories of castles, islands, dramatic landscapes, and shared moments that stay with you long after the journey ends.
